Nevis Range is a very practical, hands-on company with a lively outdoor atmosphere. Staff is recruited largely on their foreseeable potential and adaptability. Working conditions and level of business are governed almost entirely by the weather and the seasons, demanding an unusual level of flexibility of all Nevis Range staff.
The number of employees varies from a core staff of 50 who work all year round to 100 at the height of a busy winter season. The key qualities that we look for in our staff are adaptability, resilience to harsh weather, passion for the outdoors, team spirit, good customer care skills and a sense of humour!! Seasonal employees include ski lift operators, groomer drivers, ski & board instructors, ski hire technicians and catering staff.

We accept applications for catering positions
all year round, however if you are interested in winter seasonal
positions (check out the brief job descriptions below) we invite
you to submit an application from October onwards,
the selection process takes place during November/December.
We recruit catering staff on a year round basis, full and part time staff are required for kitchen, servery, wash-up, bar and mountain t-hut positions. Applicants should enjoy working with the public and be able to work under pressure. Previous customer service experience is an advantage.
Lift Operators are recruited for the winter season, work involves the operation of ski lifts, assisting customers on and off lifts and checking tickets. Applicants must be responsible, have a pleasant manner, enjoy working with the public and be prepared to work in the outdoor environment in all weathers. The ability to ski or board would be an advantage.
Ski School recruit office staff for the winter season this involves dealing with credit card transactions/cash, booking people in for lessons and liasing with ski instructors. Some computer experience would be beneficial. Applicants should be used to working as part of a team under pressure, have a pleasant telephone manner and enjoy working with the public. Some knowledge of skiing would be beneficial.
We have seasonal vacancies for both ski and snowboard instructors for full and part time positions. Ideally we are looking for BASI qualified instructors, however we are prepared to recruit people with ASSI or Ski Leader qualifications. If this is the case you must be of a standard to go on a BASI Foundation course at the earliest opportunity. Applicants must be friendly, caring, enthusiastic, flexible, outgoing and want to teach as much as they want to ski/board.
Ski Hire Technicians are recruited for
the winter season; work involves the maintenance and setting
up of skis and snowboards. Applicants must be responsible,
able to work under pressure, have a pleasant manner, tidy
appearance and enjoy working with the public. Experience is
an advantage but not essential as training will be given.
Main duties include selling tickets to paying
customers/skiers/snowboarders via a computerised ticketing
system. You would also be advising customers on skiing
conditions on the mountain, as well as carrying out cashiering
duties. Previous experience and some knowledge of skiing/snowboarding
would be beneficial but is not essential as training will
be given. Will be required to work 40hrs per week, any 5 days
out of 7.

If you wish to apply for a job at Nevis Range there are two ways in which this can be done. You can either fill out our online forms and submit your application electronically or alternatively you can download the forms, print the document and post it to us.
Nevis Range Development Company does not offer staff accommodation. However, most seasonal staff find accommodation quite easily in Fort William or the surrounding areas. If you do experience difficulties we can recommend certain local establishments who offer short-term accommodation until you can find something more permanent.
All staff are provided with a uniform that is appropriate for the requirements of their particular job.
If you are successful in your application you will be given an induction on arrival and specific training that is appropriate to your position within the company. Nevis Range has been accredited with the Investors in People Standard since the inception of the scheme.
All full-time staff receive a season pass,
which allows access to the uplift facilities at Nevis Range
and the other four ski areas in Scotland. Part-time staff receive
a discounted price ticket, which offers the same benefits.
Local outdoor retail establishments offer full and part time staff discounts on goods.
